What is the Evil Eye?

The evil eye is an ancient symbol of protection that is said to keep evil eyes and negativity or bad luck away from the wearer. An evil eye is said to be a look sending harm or ill-will to the recipient and often originates through jealousy or envy of someone. Wearing the evil eye as a protective talisman is thought to deflect evil eyes and bring good luck to the wearer. The evil eye has become such a popular symbol that it has expanded from traditional jewelry to every type of accessory.

Quick History of the Evil Eye

The evil eye is said to have originated in ancient Mesopotamia and dates back to the 6th century BC. Some of the earliest evil eyes have been found on ancient cups and drinkware. The evil eye has evolved over time, remaining a popular talisman. Evil eyes seem to be everywhere today - shoes, bags, floral arrangements, home decor and any and every type of jewelry.

Evil Eye Color Meaning

We love that each color of an evil eye jewelry has a specific meaning or protective quality associated with it. While blue is the most commonly depicted evil eye, they come in just about every color and each represents a specific element to be protected or area that you'd like to bring luck into your life. This chart shows common evil eye color meanings. We love the idea of choosing an evil eye color with meaning that signifies your own journey.

Evil Eye Jewelry Designs

Our first evil eye design was a very specific request from a client who was looking for a diamond and emerald evil eye bangle. The finished piece is an absolutely stunning and special piece with five emerald evil eyes around the bangle. Read about how this piece came to life here.

Evil eye diamond and emerald bangle

After making the evil eye emerald and diamond bangle, we were inspired to design more pieces around this idea and loved the concept of jewelry as a protection piece. We made a sapphire evil eye ring, a diamond and sapphire evil eye necklace and a small emerald evil eye next. Set in 18 karat yellow gold with pave diamonds and either sapphire or emerald at the center of the eye, the fine details give these evil eye fine jewelry pieces an extra luxe feel.

GOLD, DIAMOND & SAPPHIRE EVIL EYE NECKLACE

This diamond evil eye necklace sets a stunning light blue sapphire in 18 karat yellow gold and frames it with brilliant pave diamonds. With a presence on the neck in size and in weight, this is the ultimate gold and sapphire evil eye necklace.

GOLD, DIAMOND & EMERALD EVIL EYE NECKLACE

For a slightly more delicate piece, our emerald evil eye necklace is about half the size of the sapphire version but still leaves quite the impression - and wards off all bad vibes.
